Uzi island has managed not to be involved in tourism development and most of the Uzis are fishermen and peasants. The island's scenery is fascinating and lush with mangrove, banana plantations, and huge mango trees. The island is part of a conservation area and is an ecosystem with seaweed, corals and a big variation of plants, and sea- and land animals. The island can only be reached by boat or at low tide when the only road to the island surfaces.

When the water comes up, the road disappears and you might as well travel by traditional Dhow.
Uzi Island has a population of 6,000 peoples but still don’t have any restaurant or bar. Uzi Island is an example of Zanzibar before the age of mass development, which someone can say that the things are spared if not backward.
