Overview

WHERE THE BUSH MEETS THE BEACH TANZANIA UNFORGETTABLE

 

Day 1: Pick up, DAR APT
Following your arrival at Dar es Salaam Julius Nyerere International Airport, you will be met by a Tanzanian Velo Adventures representative who will transfer you to the Hotel where you stay for overnight.
ACCOMMODATION: Hotel Slipway, BB

Day 2: Dar es Salaam
Early morning after a heavy and healthy breakfast, the driver will pick you from the Hotel. You will do a short city tour where you will get to see the beauty of Dar es Salaam, one of the biggest cities of Tanzania. Thereafter you will jump into a motorboat (20 minutes ride) to Mbudya Island one of the four Islands of Dar es Salaam Marine reserve for a refreshing get away.  Before darkness you will be driven back to the Hotel in the city area where you will have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Selous Game Reserve
After breakfast you will be picked up at your hotel in Dar and depart to Selous Game Reserve with stop for lunch at Kibiti local Restaurant, the journey will take 6hours. Late afternoon, boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River, brings you into close contact with hippo, crocodile and fantastic birdlife. Animals make their way to the river to drink and boats may approach elephant, lion, buffalo, giraffe, waterbuck and other game on the river banks to within a few meters. Crocodile glide into the water as your boat approaches and hippo appear in frightening proximity, grunting and blowing steam.

Day4: Full Day Game Drive Selous Game Reserve
You will have a full day in the Selous Game Reserve exploration of the Reserve by 4x4 wheel drive vehicle; will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of vast park. The Selous Game Reserve is the largest in Africa, covering 54,600 square kilometer. Selous is famous for its elephants, commonly seen are lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, bushbuck, impalas, elands, baboons, monkeys, zebras and greater kudus. It was originally set aside as a hunting area where animals are abundant but more shy then the Northern Parks.

Day 5: Walking Selous Game Reserve to Mikumi
Morning before breakfast wilderness walking safari, walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for the African wilds. Walking safaris offer a good chance of seeing giraffe, zebra, elephant, and good birding starts in the early morning with a guidance of an armed ranger, takes 2 hours before you meet the driver at the reserve gate and drive to Mikumi.

Day 6: Ruaha National Park
In the morning we will leave Mikumi and drive to Ruaha National Park. Ruaha national park is 20,226km². It’s the first largest national park in Tanzania. The Ruaha River flows within the park. Ruaha national park is home to over 520 bird species, 80 animal Species, 38 Fish Species and 1650 Plant Species. The vegetation in this park is miombo woodlands, open savannah biomes. This day we will have an afternoon game drive if time permits. Before darkness we will drive to the Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Full Game Drive Ruaha National Park
In the morning after breakfast, we will leave the park with the lunch boxes for full day game viewing in the park. The exciting Great Ruaha River features large numbers of hippo and crocodile and attracts lion, leopard, hunting dog and other species such as waterbuck, impala, giraffe, warthog, eland, zebra and elephants. Grant’s gazelle, ostrich and cheetah may be seen on the plain. Bird species include: saddle-billed storks, white-headed plovers, goliath herons and the white-backed night heron, vultures.

Day 8: Ruaha to Iringa
This day will begin with early morning game drive for 2 hours then we will go back to the lodge/Campsite for a heavy breakfast (branch). Thereafter we drive to Iringa which will take approximately 3 hours. On reaching Iringa we will have a city tour where we will visit the local market, the Germany Church and have short town tour. After this short tour we will go to the hotel for check in and a bottle of beer while watching the city from above before going for the sundowner at Gangilonga Rock. In the evening we will go for dinner outside the hotel then back for overnight stay.

Day 9: Iringa to Mikumi National Park
This day after morning breakfast we will be driven to Mikumi National Park. Hopefully we will see some animals on the way such as giraffes, zebras, monkeys, antelopes, waterbucks.

DAY 10: Cultural Tourism, Mikumi
Meet with Makene Ngoroma (Mikumi Eco and Cultural Tourism Enterprise).
Makene is one of the founders of Mikumi Eco Tourism who is going to guide and give us information about culture and the recycle responsible tourism advocacy project. This activity will be conducted through bike cycling around the village while heading to the sugar cane plantation for another experience on sugar production. In the evening we will head to Mikumi National Park for an evening game drive then to the campsite for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 11: Full Day Game Drive Mikumi National Park
Early morning 2 hour game drives in the park and drive to the campsite for breakfast. Then after we will continue with full day game drive until late evening, then you will be driven back to the campsite for dinner and overnight stay. At Mikumi National Park you are likely to see animals such as zebras, giraffes, kudus, buffalos, hippopotamus, eland, antelope, lion, impalas, sported hyena, you can also find yellow baboon near kiboga, at the southern end of park.

Day 12: Drive to Morogoro
After breakfast you will be driven to Morogoro for hot lunch. Today you have time to relax at the Hotel, enjoy the swimming pool, or get a chance to do a city tour at Morogoro.

ACCOMMODATION: Nashera Hotel, FB

Day 13: Morogoro to Dodoma
After the morning breakfast you will be driven to Dodoma. On reaching Dodoma you will have a wine making program at Domiya Wine Estate. Enjoy wonderful made wine from the grapes of Dodoma. In the evening we will visit the goat slaughter arena here you will have beef barbeque
ACCOMMODATION: Domiya Wine Estate, FB
Day 14: Dodoma to Arusha
After the morning breakfast we pick our lunch boxes and driven to Arusha. We will stop at the Kondoa Rock paintings. We will have our lunch here and proceed with our safari to Arusha Town.

ACCOMMODATION: Kiota Nest Lodge, FB
Day 15: Departure
This will be the last day of our adventurous Safari. After that we pack our bags ready to be driven back to the Kilimanjaro International Airport. We will say good bye to the crew and wish you safe journey to Zanzibar for 3days 2 nights/ fly back home.
