Overview
Lake Nakuru National Park is one of Kenya’s two Premium Parks, and is home of birds. It surrounds Lake Nakuru and is located in the Central Rift Conservation Area in the South Rift region of Kenya. Originally it was protected as a bird sanctuary. Secondly, it hosts over 400 bird species, including 5 globally threatened species further improving tourism in Kenya.. This park was also the first national Rhino sanctuary and hosts one of the world’s highest concentrations of the Black Rhinoceros. It is the most famous in the world as the location of the greatest bird spectacle on earth.
This includes the myriads of fuchsia pink flamingos whose numbers are legion, usually more than a million. They feed on the abundant algae, which thrives in the warm waters. Inside the park, there is Lake Nakuru Lodge which is an African Safari Accommodation in Kenya. The lodge lies in the heart of one of Kenya’s most densely animal populated wetland national parks and it is only two hours’ drive from Nairobi.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Nairobi city tour
The Masai Mara Nakuru 5 day’s safari starts early in the morning (depending on arrival or if from hotel),with a visit the David Shedrick elephant orphanage, then the giraffe centre, before proceeding to the Karen Blixen museum. All these are in the vicinity of Nairobi city. After lunch proceed to hotel or camp. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2 Nairobi – Masai Mara
Leave Nairobi after breakfast and travel through the Great Rift Valley. On the way there will be stop over at the view point to not only have a good view of the magnificent floor of the Rift valley but also take memorable photos. Get to Masai Mara early in the afternoon for lunch and then game drives. Dinner and overnight at here.
Day 3 Masai Mara Full Day
After the breakfast leave the camp and proceed for the whole day game drive, you will have your picnic lunch with you on this day since you will also cover the Mara River. This is one of the famous rivers where the Wildebeest Migration takes place every year. In the late afternoon an option tour visit to the Masai cultural village can be done. (At an extra $20 on the price since its optional). Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 4 Maasai Mara- Nakuru
Early morning game drive as from 0630hrs-0930hrs, this game drive is very important as you will have an opportunity to capture early morning hunts. After breakfast proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park with stop over at the rift valley view point for a fantastic view of this wonderfully made floor of the rift valley arriving in Nakuru early afternoon.
Lake Nakuru is often referred to as the Pink Lake due to its Great masses of Flamingos. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5 Lake Nakuru- Nairobi
Before breakfast, embark on an early game drive into the national park and have a chance to see the wildlife rich tracks. After breakfast start your journey back to Nairobi arriving in the afternoon. Depending on your flight you can go straight to the airport but otherwise to your hotel. Lunch is in Nairobi.
