SRS- Stands for Single Room Supplement. We do not have triple rooms in most of the hotels in Rwanda. Most of the hotels have double rooms (A room with one big bed for 2 people or a room with 2 single beds occupied by 2 people) this means the 3rd person will be left without a room to stay and the alternative would be to occupy the single room (a room with one bed ). SRS apply for non-even (3, 5, 7, 9,11…) travellers. Therefore the SRS fee is be paid by the person occupying a room alone.

Summary:

In this 10 days safari you will explore the three biggest National Parks (Akagera National park, Nyungwe National park, and Volcanoes national park) in Rwanda. You will track the critically endangered mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park located in the Virunga Mountains. This is perhaps one of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences on earth!!! You get so close to these awesome giant primates.

If a hotel of equivalent standard is not available Kubwa Five Safaris may substitute the next best quality hotel or suggest a superior at an extra charge. There is free wi-fi in hotels.
• Transportation – 4x4 Safari Land cruiser / Minivan (up to eight passengers) with pop-up tops and seven window seats for game viewing. Groups of twelve or more people who would like to travel in one vehicle are offered 25-28 seat coasters that have about 16 window seats. Our Safari vehicles are well maintained to provide maximum level of comfort and safety. 
• Our Drivers /Guides - We recognize this for a fact! The success of your safari will largely depend on your driver/guide.  It is because of this that we have a great team of carefully selected drivers /guides, well trained.
• Package includes – Ground transportation, full board accommodation and enroute meals as indicated in the itinerary, one gorilla and Chimpanzee permit per person to be secured and paid for well in advance, park fees and relevant government taxes, services of an expert guide, airport transfer.

• Day One: Arrival in Kigali.

  Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, Kubwa Five Safaris representative with your name printed on an A4 paper will be ready to receive you and tell you so much about the natural

  beauty of Rwanda. You will appreciate the country as a land of thousand hills. Our guide will drive you to your hotel and these range from luxury, moderate and budget accommodation. They are beautifully designed to make your stay comfortable. You check in and have dinner and overnight at

  Day Two: Transfer to Akagera National park and evening game drive.

  See plenty of wildlife in Akagera National Park. Have a lovely breakfast and drive off to the beautiful Akagera National Park. The journey is amazing as you will see magnificent sceneries, the vehicle can be stopped at any time to take pictures and get a closer view at interesting features. We arrive during lunch time and check in to our desired lodges. In the afternoon, we go for a game drive; you will get a chance to see animals such as elephants, Impalas, Zebras and many others. Make sure your camera is fully charged to enable you take the best shots as you catch a glance at the animals. After a wonderful time in the park, we return to the lodge.   Akagera Game Lodge is located in the south of Akagera National Park in Kayonza District, Eastern Province, Rwanda. You can access the hotel via Rwamagana, Kabarondo and Rwinkwavu Road. The trip from Kigali to the hotel will only take you 2 hours.  From the lodge you can enjoy some pretty amazing views of Lake Ihema. It offers comfortable accommodation with a simple but tastefully furnished rooms, restaurant, swimming pool, curio bar, tennis court and a few other life comforts. Usual board basis is there is access to wifi and television for those who cannot live without communication channels.

  Day Three: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise.

  Wake up early morning, have breakfast and proceed for a second morning game drive. We will drive to the northern part of the park to see the early risers as they go back to sleep. Such animals are only active at night and rarely seen during day. As you drive through, you see animals like bush bucks, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, lions and many others. You will see them in large numbers as they try to look for pasture. Return to the lodge for lunch and relax. In the afternoon, we get ready for the boat cruise on Lake Ihema, you will get a chance to see hippos thrashing the water, crocodiles basking in the sun, different bird species and other animals seen at a distance.   Day Four: Transfer from Akagera to Nyungwe National park.

  Have a beautiful breakfast and drive off to Nyungwe National Park. The journey will be interesting with stop overs; you will visit Butare museum and Nyanza museum. You will take nice pictures and get information about Rwanda’s culture. Have lunch and proceed to the park. We arrive late in the evening and check in to your desired lodge.   Gisakura Guest House is located in 2km outside the Nyungwe National Park close to the Gisakura Tea Estate precisely on the road from Park to Rusizi former Cyangugu. Its accommodation is extremely cheap and comfortable. Rooms are of three categories furnished with shower and hot water is always available from electric heater. 

   

  Day Five: First Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe National Park and afternoon primate walk in the forest.

  Have an early morning breakfast and proceed to the park headquarters for briefing about the rules of tracking the chimpanzees. The encounter is amazing as you hike through the jungle, you will get a chance to see them face to face as they do their daily work; some playing, feeding and others  resting. They will surely entertain you and all you have to do is to take as many pictures as possible. After a thrilling moment with the chimpanzees, return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, go for colobus monkey tracking. As you hike, you will come across other primates such as vervet monkeys, baboons and others. Bird watchers will get a chance to see many species. Have dinner and overnight at

  Day Six: Second chimp tracking and afternoon canopy walk

  With an exquisite breakfast, get ready for the second chimpanzee tracking. This time we take a different route. You will see many of these and appreciate the fact that Rwanda is gifted by nature. The encounter is always unique and beyond comparison. Have lunch and in the afternoon, we go for the spectacular forest canopy walk, this is well constructed to offer you a better view of the birds, primates and a breathtaking view of the forest.   Day Seven: Transfer to Volcanoes national park.

  Have an early morning breakfast and drive off to the Volcanoes national Park. The journey is not boring as you take beautiful sceneries of the area, with stopovers anytime you see something interesting. Lunch is en-route and we arrive late in the park and check in to your desired lodge. Have dinner and rest at .

  Garden Place Hotel: The hotel is the best place you would rather be. It is situated in Ruhengeri offering comfortable stylish accommodation to both business and holiday travelers. It takes an hour and 30 minutes drive from the airport to the lodge hence easy access. Regarding the rooms, the hotel has 28 rooms divided into 17 double, 2 VIP’s and 9 standard rooms. Both rooms have modern bathrooms with plenty of hot water and pressure, hair dryers, telephone, flat screen satellite TV, and balcony for great views.

   

  Day Eight: Gorilla tracking.

  Have a pretty breakfast and proceed to the park headquarters for briefing about the rules and guidelines that govern tracking the gorillas in the park. The activity takes about 2 to 8 hours with strictly one hour of being with the gorillas. The experience of hiking through the jungle is breathtaking and some level of physical fitness is required. Accessibility of the gorillas will depend on where they were the previous day. Confronting the gentle giants will be breathtaking, you will see them do their daily routine; mothers feeding their young ones, playing, feeding and others resting. You are kindly asked to keep a distance while watching the gorillas. Silence must be observed and remember to remove your flash light because it distracts them. After a thrilling moment with the gorillas, return to your lodge and relax. In the afternoon, you may opt for a

  cultural walk or nature walk. You will see the Banyarwanda community and how much they value their culture, they will entertain you with A group of gorillas relaxing their traditional dance and you may participate if you so wish. You will drive to visit the beautiful twin lakes and enjoy the calm environment. Dinner and overnight at

  Day Nine: Golden monkey or Dian Fossey

  Have an early morning breakfast and set off for the golden monkey tracking. As you hike, you will meet other primates along the path. Spotting the golden monkeys in the wild will be amazing; you will see them jump from one branch of tree to another. Others will be playing and feeding. Make sure your camera is on standby because you may miss to take the best shots in stunning positions.

  Go hike Dian Fossey at Karisoke research center; Dian Fossey was an American primatologist who struggled to protect the lives of the gorillas. She was killed and buried adjacent to Digit, a mountain gorilla. Drive to Lake Kivu and enjoy the cool environment of relaxation. Have dinner and overnight

  Lake Kivu Serena Hotel is located just 3 km from the center of Gisenyi-the western edge of Rwanda. It's a large, international-style hotel with a range of facilities and activities, and fronted by a long beach. The 66 en-suite rooms at Lake Kivu Serena are set in two diagonal lines, one overlooking the gardens and the other facing the communal areas below and with views over the lake; we would definitely recommend the lake-view rooms. The facilities at the Lake Kivu Serena are excellent. There's a large swimming pool 

  overlooking the lake, with plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas dotted around. A shallow children’s swimming pool adjoins the main pool, although parental supervision is recommended. Loungers and umbrellas are set out, too, along the beach that runs in front of the hotel. There are tennis courts that guests can use as well as a watersports center with catamaran, jet skis and more.

  Stipp Hotel Gisenyi is situated in Gisenyi. Featuring a 24-hour front desk, this property also boasts a restaurant and an outdoor pool. Volleyball and basketball is an 8-minute walk from the property.

  Day Ten: Boat cruise and transfer to Kigali.

  Have a wonderful breakfast and get ready for a boat cruise, you will ride up to the coffee island and enjoy a magnificent view of the surrounding islands. Return to the hotel and drive off to Kigali. Depending on time, you may visit a few shops and buy for yourself a souvenir. If you have no flight, check in to your hotel and if you have drive off to the airport for your flight back home. Say farewell to Rwanda.
