Overview

Mountain climbing benefits are very many.

To us at Mount Kenya adventures, we believe  that when it comes to adventure our clients experience comes first. Whether climbing Kenya’s highest mountain Mt. Kenya or touching the sky on Africa’s rooftop, Mt. Kilimanjaro we have it covered with something unique and exciting.

this hiking trip, combines the two most scenic routes of Mt Kenya. Ascent is on the dry side of mountain which offers some of the finest walking.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Sirimon gate to Old Moses Camp

The day start from Sirimon gate (2500m) and then trek through forest, bamboo, and rosewood and heather zones to the Old Moses Mountain Hut/Camp. The elevation here is 3300m and offers a very good acclimatization opportunity. Dinner and overnight here.

Day 2 Old Moses to Shipton's Camp

After an early breakfast trek to Shipton's camp (4200m). The hike is awesome but a good test on individual endurance on the mountain. The rigorous but exciting trek up takes you across hills and valleys through the entire stretch of the sprawling moorlands where you see several unique and interesting plants and animals including the Giant groundsels and lobelias and the mountain rock hyrax. Lunch is served on the way. Arrival time is early evening.

Day 3 Shiptons Camp

The day is usually used for acclimatization. After breakfast, the guide allows a small elevation up the cliffs so as to have good bonding with climatic conditions as well as have wonderful time to capture the birds and animals found here. Get back to the camp just in time for lunch and then have the afternoon to yourself..

Day 4 Summit and then Chogoria

Leave at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving point Lenana at 6:00am, taking about 3hrs. After the sunrise, descend down to Mintos hut for breakfast and further down to Chogoria Bandas, for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Chogoria Bandas-Nairobi

After breakfast, set on morning journey to Chogoria. 4WD vehicles are provided but during the bad weather, climbers have to walk some distance as vehicles may not reach the bandas. From Chogoria connect with your vehicle for next destination or journey back to Nairobi.
