ITINERARY

Day 1

Timau is a hot but wet town that lies on the leeward side of the mountain and is well known for its large scale wheat plantation and cattle rearing. This route is very appropriate for those climbers who love camping.

The first day we leave Nanyuki for Solos camp through Timau and into the Eboli farm. This first day gives you a chance to gradually increase attitude level s through the natural bushes and vegetation very unique but that characterizes the drier forest flora. The Solos camp gives a good view of the summit point Lenana during a clear morning.

Day 2

We leave Solos camp for major’s camp. This will be a walk on long but less steep tracks. You will be able to come face to face with Zebras and elands on the safari tracks once in a while.

Day 3

The day gives you a chance to get mountains vegetation, rocks and cold weather. This is as a result of steepy terrains from the camp to Shiptons camp that stands at an average height of 4200 meters above the sea level via The Icemike. You also get a chance to view a skeleton of an elephant believed to have died years back.

Day 4

The day sees u wake up very early in the morning for the summit at Mt. Lenana for the view of sunrise and Kilimanjaro Mountain to the west. Oldonyo to the south and Marsabit Mountains to the north. The summit point is at 4895 meters above the sea level. Then climb down to the other side of the mountain to Lake Michaelson for fishing adventures.

The lake is on the Gorges valley which is very beautiful with intertwining valleys and magnificent scenery that is only found here.

Day 5

Climb lower to another lake – Lake Ellis –this gives a relatively warmer temperature but still offers a very good view of the down plain and Meru forest and Eastern regions. It gives a very good camping site that is adjacent to a lake and you can’t enjoy the cool breeze anywhere else.

Day 6

This day sees you further down to the Chogoria Banda and camping sites. The Banda have got hot water for showering and the temperatures here are relatively low.

Day 7

This is one day that gives you the largest forest car drive or trek of 38km of natural forest to the Chogoria town where you can board your means of transport either to Nanyuki or Nairobi via Embu.
