Overview

This trip give a combination of mountain climbing as well as an adventure into the wildlife rich nationla reserve, the
Masai Mara.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Sirimon gate Old Moses Camp

The day start from Sirimon gate (2500m) and then trek through forest, bamboo, and rosewood and heather zones to the Old Moses Mountain Hut/Camp. The elevation here is 3300m and offers a very good acclimatization opportunity. Dinner and overnight here.

Day 2 Old Moses Shipton's Camp

After an early breakfast trek to Shipton's camp (4200m). The hike is awesome but a good test on individual endurance on the mountain. The rigorous but exciting trek up takes you across hills and valleys through the entire stretch of the sprawling moorlands where you see several unique and interesting plants and animals including the Giant groundsels and lobelias and the mountain rock hyrax. Lunch is served on the way. Arrival time is early evening.

 

Day 3 Shiptons Camp 

The day is usually used for acclimatization. After breakfast, the guide allows a small elevation up the cliffs so as to have good bonding with climatic conditions as well as have wonderful time to capture the birds and animals found here. Get back to the camp just in time for lunch and then have the afternoon to yourself.

 

Day 4 Summit and then Old Moses

Leave at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving point Lenana at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs. After the sunrise, descend down, you descend slowly down to Shipton’s Camp for breakfast. After some rest embark on the journey to Old Moses camp through Mackinder’s valley arriving late in the evening. Lunch is served on the way. The camp is relatively warm and here you enjoy the view of Nanyuki town and the Timau plains. Dinner and overnight

 

Day 5 Old Moses camp – Naromoru

After early morning breakfast, descend for 3 hours up to the Sirimon Park gate to catch a vehicle for transfer to Naromoru . Spend the night here. At the park entrance gate you have the opportunity to bid goodbye to the crew as you appreciate them depending on their services rendered

 

Day 6 Naromoru – Masai Mara

Leave Naromoru after breakfast for Masai Mara. Drive via the rift valley arriving early in the afternoon. then an evening game drive is taken. Dinner and overnight at a tented camp.

 Day 7 Masai Mara National Reserve

Full day spent exploring the park in search of the Big 5. Dinner and overnight in Mara Masai Mara National Reserve is one of the best known and most popular reserves in the whole of Africa wildebeest migration you could see thousands of animals, at other times there are still hundreds. The plains are full of wildebeest, zebra, impala, topi, giraffe, Thomson’s gazelle. Also regularly seen are leopards, lions, hyenas, cheetah, jackal and bat-eared foxes. Black rhino are a little shy and hard to spot but are often seen at a distance. Dinner and overnight .

Hot air balloon safaris are readily available in this park at an extra cost of USD$450 per person.

 

Day 8 Mara – Nairobi

Morning game drives then proceed to Nairobi to arrive in the evening. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Nairobi

 

Day 9 Airport transfer or Nairobi city tour

Depending on the flight time, we can have a city tour. 

A Nairobi city tour trip starts early in the morning. We organize the tour seemlessly and this will enable you  you visit an alley of tourist attraction in Nairobi.

Tour Highlights:

Experience colonial history at the Karen Blixen Museum

Visit the baby elephants at David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

Feed a giraffe at the Giraffe Centre

Lunch at the Karen Blixen Coffee Garden

Then head to the airport to catch your flight back home.
